The project is the winner of the 2007 Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Production Grant and the 2005 Alfred P. Sloan Screenwriting Award. It was one of 37 projects accepted worldwide into the 2008 No Borders International Co-Production Market at the 30th Annual Independent Film Week in NYC. WHALING CITY was also an official invitee/attendee at the 2008 AFI / Sloan Film Summit in Los Angeles and the 2005 TriBeCa / Sloan Film Summit in NYC. The project has been recognized in Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
WHALING CITY meets qualifications to elect to leverage both federal and state tax incentives to promote film production in the U.S. and in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The 2005 Sloan Film Summit, presented by the Tribeca Film Institute, ran from October 5-8, 2005. The Summit brought together emerging screenwriters and directors from top U.S. film schools and organizations that have been supported by grants from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

2008 No Borders, IFP Independent Film Week, NYC
Whaling City was one of 37 projects accepted worldwide into the No Borders International Co-Production Market, held during the 30th Annual Independent Film Week, Sep. 14th-19th, 2008 in New York City. Independent Film Week is a venue for financiers, sales agents, and distributors to discover new works-in-progress from experienced producers and directors, and new voices on the independent film scene. It is presented by IFP, the nation's oldest and largest organization of independent filmmakers, and sponsored by HBO Films and Kodak.
