WHALING CITY is a dramatic narrative feature film set in New Bedford, Mass., that will run approximately 100 minutes in length. The story centers on a third-generation commercial fisherman whose way of life is threatened by rising costs, declining catches, and increasingly restrictive government regulations. While struggling to keep his boat and his livelihood, he becomes romantically involved with a marine biologist.

The project is the winner of the 2007 Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Production Grant and the 2005 Alfred P. Sloan Screenwriting Award. It was one of 37 projects accepted worldwide into the 2008 No Borders International Co-Production Market at the 30th Annual Independent Film Week in NYC. WHALING CITY was also an official invitee/attendee at the 2008 AFI / Sloan Film Summit in Los Angeles and the 2005 TriBeCa / Sloan Film Summit in NYC. The project has been recognized in Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter and has attracted the interest of several name actors.

WHALING CITY meets qualifications to leverage both federal and state tax incentives to promote film production in the U.S. and in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
